Abstract

————————————

Friction and wearing are veryimportant sources of environmental pollution and natural resource wastages insociety, and are the major development bottleneck of many key technologies. Asa new technology (debuted 2012), “Structural superlubricity”provides revolutionary solutions to major friction and wearing problems, especially in the field of MEMS, information storage, and advanced precisionmanufacturing, etc. It studies the ultralow (almost-zero) friction and wearingphenomena between two contacting solid surfaces in motion. In this talk, Prof. Zhengshall provide fundamental reviews on structural superlubricityconcepts, the scientific challenges, and also the tremendous futureopportunities. Prof. Zhengshall also introduce his works and research teams, and encourage younggraduates to join his efforts.     (Thistalk will be in mandarin)

Speaker's Bio

————————————

Prof. ZHENG Quanshui, the founder and leading scientist in structural superlubricity technology. He is a professor in Tsinghua University, Chair professor of Tsien Hsue-shenClasses (Tsinghua University), Director of Center for Nano/micro-Mechanics andMultidisciplinary Innovation Research (TsinghuaUniversity), and Director of SuperlubricityResearch Institute (Research Institute of Tsinghua University of Shenzhen). Hehas obtained twice the National Prize for Natural Sciences of China (SecondClass), and has published over hundreds journal articlesrelating to his structural superlubricity worksand tensor function theory inrenounced academic journals, including Nature.
