Introduction:
Report title:Development of Bio-inspired Nanomaterials for Translational Medicine
Speaker:Dr.Feng Chen
Abstract
Thebiocompatibility and bioactivity are critical for various applications ofnanomaterials in translational medicine. The bio-inspired strategy is apromising approach to prepare functional nanomaterials with highbiocompatibility and optimal bioactivity. Our interests are focused onpreparation, structure regulation and biomedical application of bio-inspirednanomaterials. In recent years, we have developed the microwave-assistedsolvothermal method, polymer regulation method and biomolecule-assisted methodfor prepared bio-inspired nanomaterials of calcium phosphate (CaP). Theas-prepared CaP and composite nanomaterials display controllable structures andfunctions, such as mesoporous/porous structures and high ordered structures, and are applied forthe studies of drug delivery, bone regeneration/tissuerepair and oral protection. For example, we have achieved the controlledsynthesis and functionalization of CaPnanomaterials with continuously orderednanostructure (from micro-scale to macro-scale), which performed similarchemical composition and structure to the native calcified tissue. Thesebio-inspired nanomaterials are promising for various applications intranslational medicine.
