From June 22nd to 24th,TBSI has successfully held the first Summer Retreat and Campus Day in Nanshan i-Park.Two co-directors of TBSI, Professor Feiyu Kang and Professor ConnieChang-Hasnain attended this event. About 50 professors from both Tsinghua Universityand UC Berkeley, 10 entrepreneurs of star enterprises, 30 current TBSI Ph.D. studentsand 52 prospective students participated in the event.
In the opening ceremony, co-directorsFeiyu Kang and Connie Chang-Hasnain welcomed all the guests and students. Andthen representatives from 17 laboratories made presentations about their ownresearch and plan. Every current TBSI Ph.D.student made a poster to compete “TBSI Future Leaders Scholarship”.
On the morning of June 23rd,about 20 Core-PIs brought 52 prospective students visited BYD to gain a newinsight of electric car industry. And then they gathered together with currentPh.D. students and TBSI staff in Yunhai Villa.
The TBSI first Summer Retreat includesacademic forum, student report, enterprise tour and staff evening. This eventfocuses on interactive communication and interdisciplinary discussion, allowingcore-PIs and students enjoy a joyful summer together.
