PREVIOUS RELEVANT RESEARCH WORK

Prof. Kang’s research interests are focused on the nano-carbon materials, graphite and its intercalation compounds, lithium ion battery and super-capacitors, new type secondary batteries such as Zinic ion battery and Nickel ion battery, direct methanol fuel cell, electric vehicles, porous carbon and adsorption, indoor air clearing and water purification.
Prof. Kang has made achievements in graphite intercalation compounds and new carbon materials for energy storage and environmental protection. He has undertaken and is on-going research projects such as National Key Basic Research Program of China (973), Eighth and Tenth Five-Year National Programs of China, two "863" High Technology Programs and seven projects supported by National Natural Science Foundation of China, including two key projects.
He was awarded the National Invention Award (3rd Rank, 1993), the Scientific Progress Award (1st Rank, 1997) by the Ministry of Mechanical Industry and the Technological Invention Award (1st Rank, 2006) by China Building Materials Association. In 2010, Guangdong Provincial Government introduced the “international innovative R&D team for energy and environment materials” which is led by Prof. Kang. Prof. Kang is chief scientist of 973 project.

PUBLICATION RECORDS

Prof. Kang has been awarded 50 Chinese patents and 4 US patents. And more than 300 academic papers including 250 papers in SCI journals and 3 scientific books have been published.
